Former New England Revolution midfield star Shalrie Joseph has signed a 2-year contract to be the coach of the Grenada national team, for whom he made 20 appearances over his career.

The contract comes ahead of Grenada's involvement in the CONCACAF League of Nations this fall.

Joseph has been mostly retired since 2014 after playing 13 professional seasons in Major League Soccer, including 11 with the Revolution. He won the 2007 U.S. Open Cup and 2008 North American SuperLiga with the Revs, while earning MLS Best XI honors four times.

Now age 39, Joseph did make a brief return to play in a handful of matches for PDL side FC Boston in 2016 and 2017.
