Vancouver Whitecaps end UK trip with 4-0 win against Bristol City U-23s

Alphonso Davies - Vancouver Whitecaps - Oct. 2, 2016

The Vancouver Whitecaps ended their preseason trip to the United Kingdom in style on Thursday, getting a pair of goals from 16-year-old Alphonso Davies and three assists from 22-year-old forward Kekuta Manneh to beat the Bristol City Under-23 team, 4-0.

“They’re both very young, excellent players who get people off their seats,” Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson said when asked about Davies and Manneh by WhitecapsFC.com. “Those two in the first 45 minutes showed that they’ve got a good combination, what their strengths are, and they played to their strengths. They ran hard, which is important, they managed to get themselves in right areas, and they obviously scored a couple of goals, so I was pleased with both of them.”

Jordan Harvey and Nicolas Mezquida also scored for the ‘Caps, who will return to Vancouver on Friday before heading to Portland next week for the Timbers’ annual preseason tournament.
