MLS Heineken® Rivalry Week to showcase biggest MLS rivalries over the air, overseas, and on social media 
Third annual program features first-ever international viewing party as deep-seated rivalries air
on network television and Facebook Live
NEW YORK/WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.

– Major League Soccer and high end beer brand Heineken® celebrate the third annual MLS Heineken® Rivalry Week program with two thrilling installments of the League’s most heated and historic matchups airing on ESPN, the FOX Broadcast Network, Univision and Facebook Live. Highlighted with away market viewing parties, and for the first time a viewing party in London, the featured first slate of games spans from June 23-25 and culminates with an iconic Heineken® Rivalry Week Edición Especial on July 1. The second installment takes place August 23-27, marking the final 2017 regular season meetings between the rival clubs.
From showcasing signature rivalry matchups to creating memorable drinking occasions at both MLS stadiums and Heineken account pubs, Heineken® Rivalry Week extends MLS’ seasonal campaign by asking fans, “Where do you stand?”
Thriving Rivalries Embrace Time-Honored Traditions
Complete with the California Clásico, New York Derby, Texas Derby, and a legendary Cascadia Cup clash for the first installment, the Heineken® Rivalry Week stage will be set with MLS Matchday Live providing expert analysis and live stadium look-ins heading into the most electrifying of MLS environments. The second installment, featuring a 401 Derby, will showcase the first meeting between two Canadian rivals since the 2016 Eastern Conference Championship.

International and Domestic Viewing Parties
As part of the League’s continued focus to engage with fans around the world through expanded global media partnerships, MLS will host the first-ever Heineken® Rivalry Week international viewing party on June 24 in London at The Pilgrim of Kennington (247 Kennington Lane, London). The event will feature the New York Red Bulls vs. New York City FC live on Sky Sports, MLS’ broadcast partner in the United Kingdom.  In addition to a special appearance from former NYCFC and Premier League player Frank Lampard, fans in London will be offered discounted Heineken beer pricing, exclusive MLS merchandise, and prizes. Domestically, MLS and Heineken will create authentic game-watching experiences in four away markets, including a Red-versus-Blue marquee event featuring giveaways and exclusive sweepstakes at Studio Square NYC (Queens, NY) during the New York-New York showdown on June 24.

A wealth of video content during Heineken® Rivalry Week will highlight the MLSsoccer.com digital fan experience with MLS INSIDER segments released in collaboration with ESPN, and a special edition of “The Movement,” the League’s signature video series exploring the growing soccer culture in North America. Additional video content will include a rivalry-centric “Fan vs. Player” series, and enhanced sizzle reels with highlights from past rivalry games. Additionally, expanded coverage of MLS rivalry histories, team storylines with accompanying features, commentary, news, and aggregated fan banter will provide MLS fans with comprehensive content on MLSsoccer.com all week long.
Fans can join the conversation on social media using #RivalryWeek, the official Heineken Rivalry Week hashtag, as they await the highly anticipated return of the live look-in cam, which in conjunction with FOX Sports, will broadcast select game moments, corner kicks, and in-game action via social media during the New York Red Bulls vs. NYCFC game.
