For a brief moment before the US national team’s 2-1 loss to Mexico on Friday night, the two fierce rivals put aside their mutual enmity for a show of unity and respect in Columbus.
Moments after each XI was photographed on their own, the US and Mexico starting lineups came together at midfield for a group photo. Players from both teams put their arms around each other’s shoulders, with captains Michael Bradley and Rafael Marquez linked together front and center.

Things got plenty heated during the match, but both sides deserve plenty of credit for this wonderful display of sportsmanship.
