Giovani dos Santos will be in Columbus next Friday.
The LA Galaxy attacker was named on Thursday to Mexico’s roster for next Friday’s huge Hexagonal battle between El Tri and the US at MAPFRE Stadium. Following Friday’s clash in Columbus, Mexico will travel south to play at Panama on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Dos Santos started both of Mexico’s last two matches, recording a goal and an assist in friendly victories against New Zealand and Panama last month.
The 27-year-old Designated Player does have some Galaxy business to attend to before joining El Tri, as dos Santos and his LA teammates will play at Colorado on Sunday in the second leg of their Western Conference Semifinal series (2 pm ET; ESPN and ESPN Deportes, TSN5 in Canada). LA won the first leg 1-0 on the back of a dos Santos goal.
Former Real Salt Lake defender Carlos Salcedo, now playing at Italian club Fiorentina, was also called up to the Mexico roster, as was former New York Red Bulls midfielder/defender Rafa Marquez, now playing for original club Atlas.
