Report: Clint Dempsey out, John Anthony Brooks in for USMNT friendly at Bosnia and Herzegovina

Clint Dempsey with the US

Clint Dempsey's been on the move a lot over the past few weeks, but one place you likely won't see him is Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the US men's national team will play a friendly next Wedneday, Aug. 14 (2:30 pm ET, ESPN2).

The new Seattle Sounders DP was left off of USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's roster for the upcoming game after signing for the Sounders from Tottenham on Aug. 3, according to a report on SI.com.

Two of Dempsey's Sounders teammates, Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans, were included in the roster, according to the report, as was Hertha Berlin defender John Anthony Brooks, who could be in line to receive his first USMNT cap after reportedly declining an invitation to represent the German U-21 national team.

Because the game is a friendly, Brooks would not be cap-tied to the US with the appearance.

U.S. Soccer declined to comment on the report, but stated that the full roster for the game will be released on Monday. Bosnia and Herzegovina released their roster earlier Thursday.
