Will Real Salt Lake be adding summer reinforcements from within?

It appears so. A team spokesperson confirmed a report on RSL Soapbox which says that RSL-Arizona Academy graduate Benji Lopez, 18, has signed a professional contract with the club. Lopez is a forward, who in addition to suiting up for the Academy, also has been a member of the US Under-18 national team.

He trained with the first team in the preseason, and with a roster spot opening up with the departure of David Viana, Lopez and the club were apparently able to come together and sign a deal.

Lopez, who is expected to see his first official action in a Reserve League game on Tuesday, will become the third Homegrown signing on RSL's first team, joining defender Carlos Salcedo and goalkeeper Lalo Fernandez.
