Save of the Week

Revolution's Reis wins first Save of the Week of 2012

Revs 'keeper Matt Reis

If you get your hand on the ball, a full-stretch save should merit kudos. New England goalkeeper Matt Reis's full-stretch stop on Jacob Peterson's header merited more than kudos -- a Save of the Week nod for Week 20.

The save came in the 52nd minute of New England's 0-0draw with Sporting KC on July 21. Peterson's header caught Reis going the other direction, but the veteran was able to bounce back the other way to get a fingertip on the ball and help preserve the clean sheet.

After starting 18 games this season with 57 saves and four shutouts, this is Reis's first Save of the Week title this season.

  1. Matt Reis (NE) 45.1%
  2. Bill Gaudette (NY) 25.23%
  3. Josh Saunders (LA) 19.68%
  4. Jon Busch (SJ) 6.25%
  5. Troy Perkins (POR) 3.75%
