Chivas USA drop decision to Fire in Mississippi

Chivas USA fell 1-0 this evening to the Chicago Fire in the Red-and-White's final exhibition of the 2006 preseason, played on a chilly night at Freedom Ridge Park in this suburb of Jackson, Mississippi. In just one week, Chivas USA faces Real Salt Lake in the opening game of Chivas USA's 2006 Major League Soccer campaign on Sunday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. at The Home Depot Center.

Chivas USA was denied an early lead in the fourth minute when a Jonathan Bornstein through ball sprung Ante Razov free in the penalty area and Razov was brought down by Chicago goalkeeper Zach Thornton. But the Chicago goalkeeper would save Razov's ensuing spot kick, preserving the tie. Chicago bagged the game's only goal four minutes later, forward Calen Carr heading home from about five yards a Chad Barrett flick-on of a Thiago corner kick.

Tomorrow Sunday, Chivas USA forward and World Cup veteran 'Paco' Palencia will be making a special appearance on America's most-watched weekly Spanish-language sports program, Univision's 'República Deportiva'. The show will be broadcast on the West Coast from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. PT on KMEX Univision 34 Los Angeles.

Chivas USA, Major League Soccer's Mexican-owned, Los Angeles-based franchise, kicks off its second campaign in MLS on April 2, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. PT versus Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Tickets, starting at just $10 per game, are available by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or online via www.cdchivasusa.com.
