Moor soaking it in:
Drew Moor, FC Dallas' first round SuperDraft pick (6th overall), attended Indiana University and helped lead his school to back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2003 and in 2004. As he begins his first professional season, Moor said being a native of Dallas has helped his transition to the Major League Soccer level.
"I had a pretty good idea coming in of what was in store for me because I had been in the past few summers with the team," said Moor. "With that being said, right now I'm just trying to soak a few things in and keep a smile on my face."
Moor has worked hard over the first few weeks of training and is very glad to be here. He grew up a Dallas Burn fan and went to several matches at the Cotton Bowl during the team's first few seasons. As an MLS player now, he knows that the training and the conditioning are going to pick up as the team heads closer to their opener on April 2 versus Chicago. You can hear in his voice how important he believes spring training is and how much he values being prepared both mentally and physically. As all good leaders will do, he tends to look at the positive side of things in every situation.
"I think we kind of eased into it with the one-a-days and now we are heading into the two-a-days part of training camp," said Moor. "We tied a strong MetroStars team and then competed against a strong Chicago Fire team down in Florida.
"Although we didn't get the result we wanted against Chicago, we definitely picked up some positive things from our time down there."
Missing in action:
FC Dallas defender Steve Jolley did show up at training on Monday, but failed to take the field with his teammates due to an injury that will require an MRI in the next few days. Currently day-to-day with inflammation of his left knee, Jolley saw a doctor on Monday to drain the knee of fluid build-up. Head coach Colin Clarke hopes to have Jolley back on the field with the team in the next few days.
Jolley was one of four players that FC Dallas was missing yesterday. The other three players missing from action on Monday were Cornell Glen, Oscar Pareja and Richard Mulrooney. Glen had some difficulties with his paperwork following his appearance in the World Cup qualifier with Trinidad and Tobago last Wednesday versus the United States. Pareja was in Houston taking care of the final details on a visa that will allow him to head to Spain with the team later next week. Mulrooney was in San Jose tying up some loose ends as he finalizes his move to Dallas. Clarke expects Glen to be here in the next few days, Pareja to train Tuesday and Mulrooney to be on the field on Wednesday.
