NEW YORK - Major League Soccer issued the following statement today clarifying published news reports regarding Club America and the San Jose Earthquakes:
"MLS and AEG, investor-operator of the San Jose Earthquakes, confirm that published reports regarding Club America's purchase of the San Jose Earthquakes are unfounded and inaccurate."
"There has been no sale or acquisition of the San Jose club at this time and AEG continues to examine all options with regards to the future of the team. Negotiations continue with groups of potential investors, including Club America."
