SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 2, CHIVAS USA 1
CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH HANS WESTERHOF
On the game:
"We played well tonight. It was a nice game for our fans. But, in the end, there were two enormous mistakes and it cost us the game."
On Chivas USA's performance:
"We had good scoring opportunities, especially in the second half. The header by Arturo Torres, Juan Pablo García's shot. In general, I feel that we played better."
CHIVAS USA GOALKEEPER BRAD GUZAN
On San Jose's goals:
"Both goals were similar: a cross from the corner with two guys standing at the far post and we lose the mark again, with an open net. At this level, when you leave a guy two feet from the net they're more than likely to finish it."
CHIVAS USA DEFENDER EZRA HENDRICKSON
On the game:
"We played well for 80 minutes or so and gave up two late goals; we needed to play 90 minutes of soccer."
On the San Jose Earthquakes:
"They have a good team, but still, I think we had a decent game the entire game. All it took was two errors, and a team like that will not let those chances get away. That's what happened tonight."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR
On the game:
"That's how it has been all year; we try to win games every Saturday. It is nice to get rewarded for it. There was not a lot of buildup play, but both teams were attacking. We had a bunch of chances to score goals and [Brad] Guzan made some good saves and we missed some chances."
On the finish of game:
"At 1-1 in the 85th minute we were not satisfied. I am always telling these guys that you have to keep going for 90 minutes. You have to give yourselves a chance to win. So I am just proud of the effort at the end."
On the club's record:
"I give all the credit to the players all the time. They are the ones playing every weekend and they work hard for each other game after game. I think what we are most proud of right now though is that we only have four losses out of our first 27 games played."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO
On his goal:
"In the end, we found the way to keep fighting and we took advantage of the chances that we had and got a good result. On my goal, it was a great ball by Brian [Mullan] and I was able to get the header in."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER BRIAN MULLAN
On the game:
"It was a great win for the team. It shows our character to be down one goal away from home on a huge field and come back and get the win in the 90th minute. We were able to get the opportunities at the end and finish them so all around, it was a great game for us."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DEFENDER EDDIE ROBINSON
On Danny Califf's goal:
"On that one, I just headed the ball back across the goal, just like you are always taught. Danny [Califf] was very smart on that play to stay with it and he got himself open. I was just trying to get it back into space and I am glad it worked out for us."
