Crew to hold auction Aug. 21

Columbus Crew interim general manager Mark McCullers announced Friday that the Crew will hold its First Annual Columbus Crew Foundation auction on Saturday, Aug. 21.

The auction will take place before and after the Crew's home game vs. D.C. United and teenage phenom Freddy Adu at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The auction will take place in the Stadium Club tent located on the west side of Crew Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. when gates open for the game. The auction will run for an hour and a half until the game starts at 7:30 p.m. It will close for the duration of the game before resuming for a final 45 minutes after the game is over.

All proceeds will go to the Columbus Crew Foundation [501(c) 3], benefiting the Crew's Kicks for Kids program. Kicks for Kids is a partnership program providing Crew game tickets for local children's organizations. It's an opportunity to give disadvantaged children, honor students, and other great kids the experience of a lifetime.

The auction is the first of its kind at Crew Stadium and should be an exciting opportunity for fans to bid on some fabulous items and packages. Not only will there be soccer memorabilia, there will also be a wide variety of auction items from various supporting organizations and companies.

Among the items that have been donated to the auction so far are framed jerseys from soccer stars Brad Friedel, Freddy Adu, Tim Howard, and the U.S. national team; a Columbus Blue Jackets fantasy package consisting of a team autographed jersey, four glass seats and four VIP lounge passes; Golf foursomes to some of the best private golf courses in central Ohio; Shadowbox Cabaret party package for 50; Funny Bone tickets; Hot Air Balloon ride; Several romantic packages, including hotel stays and fine dining gift certificates; Concert tickets to Germain Amphitheater; Autographed OSU memorabilia; Get-away packages; gift baskets and many more great packages and items.

Fans must be present to participate and cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express will be accepted.

"We look forward to a great evening that will be supporting a great cause," said McCullers. "It is a wonderful opportunity to help us make a kids dream come true."
