Crew defeat Kings in friendly

Knox Cameron

The Columbus Crew defeated the USL Second Division Cincinnati Kings 2-1 Wednesday night at the Xavier Soccer Complex on the campus of Xavier University.

The Crew got on the board first with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute by Devin Barclay. The Kings tied the game six minutes later with a goal from Madeira native Jack Cummings, with an assist by the Kings' Wes Schulte.

The game stayed tied until the 77th minute, when the Crew's Knox Cameron was credited with the winning, unassisted goal, after the ball hit the post, bounced off the outstretched hand of Kings goalkeeper and former Xavier player Brian Schaeper, and into the net.
