Crew 0, Burn 0 -- quote sheet

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, JULY 10, 2004 - DALLAS BURN 0, COLUMBUS CREW 0

BURN HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On the match:
"The first half I thought we looked tired - very tired. That was definitely a result of Wednesday, traveling, etcetera. We were maybe a little fortunate to be 0-0 at halftime. Jeff (Cassar) pulled off a good save and we had our little chances as well - little half-chances. And the then the second half I thought we controlled the game. At home, you always feel like a tie is two points lost. It wasn't one of our greatest nights but if we had won the game I don't think they could have complained too much based on how we played in the second half."

On Oscar Pareja coming on in the second half:
"Fresh legs. He came on and he sparked us, held the ball and moved it quicker - a little quicker than we were in the first half. We lacked a little zip in the first half. Everybody responded with him when he came on."

On the second consecutive 0-0 match vs. Columbus:
"Good goalkeeping, huh? Jeff pulled one off and then another hit Busch on the back of the heel and came out. It's always a battle against them, no matter home or away. It's always hard, it's always tough. They work very hard as a team and are organized and they are playing with confidence."

BURN GOALKEEPER JEFF CASSAR

On the match:
"It was just a tight game. We had some tired legs since we've been going Wednesday-Saturday for a few weeks. It's tough on the body but I thought the guys fought really hard, stayed pretty compact in the back and did a good job. And they didn't give us much on the other end. The few chances we had, their goalkeeper made good saves. But it was just one of those games that was tight in the midfield."

On his recent streak of big saves:
"I feel good right now. I feel sharp. Our goalkeeper coach has got me feeling confident and I'm just trying to keep it rolling."

BURN DEFENDER CHRIS GBANDI

On the game:
"Obviously both (Edson) Buddle and (Jeff) Cunningham are good players. But I thought we did a pretty good job with them. The one chance they had in the first half, Cassar made a great save. Playing three games in 10 days is kind of tough in this heat but everybody did a great job just walking out of here with a point."

CREW HEAD COACH GREG ANDRULIS

On his team's performance:
"The guys fought like the dickens for 90 minutes out there tonight. Defensively it was a good performance. We had our offensive chances and that's all you can ask. The heat definitely took its toll on us."

On whether Jon Busch is deserving of an All-Star spot (The reserves will be announced on Monday):
"We made the call and recommended him to Peter (Nowak, D.C.'s head coach). He's deserving as well as a couple of our other guys. I guess we'll see on Monday."

CREW GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH

On the result:
"Every game we want to play the same way, and that is to try and get a shutout. We had some opportunities but we are happy with the point on the road."

On his save of Tony Nhleko's flick-on in the 76th minute:
"Luckily it hit my right heel and somehow went out. You have to have luck sometimes."

On possibly being named to the All-Star team:
"It's up to the league and Peter and those guys, but I would love to go. It would be an honor to represent the Crew at the All-Star game."

CREW FORWARD EDSON BUDDLE

On the game:
"(Jeff) Cassar had a great game and so did (Jon) Buschy. Getting a point on the road is good. But they came to Columbus and got a point so I guess it balances out. But it is definitely a positive."

On his shot that Jeff Cassar made a diving save on in the 38th minute:
"I hit it the way I wanted to but he was able to get a hand on it. I should have tried to keep it a little lower. It was a good save."
