Freese is a United States youth international and most recently was called into the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team training camp in January 2021 and was part of the squad for the 2021 Concacaf Olympic Qualifiers...He received his first call-up as a member of the Union in 2019, by the United States Under-23 national team ahead of a training camp in Chula Vista, CA from September 1-10. During the camp, he started a friendly vs. Japan (September 9), keeping a clean sheet for 45 minutes. Previously, he was called up by the Under-19 National Team for training camp in February of 2017.
Over two seasons at Harvard University, Freese played in 16 matches, totaling 77 saves. In his second season, he earned Second-Team All-Ivy League honors.
A Union Academy alumnus, he made six starts in seven appearances for the U-17/18s in the academy’s 2016-17 season.
