PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Columbus (2020): Room made 17 regular-season appearances (all starts) for Crew SC in 2020. The goalkeeper made his 2020 regular-season debut as a starter on Opening Match against New York City FC (March 1) where he earned his first win and shutout of 2020, before starting on the road against Seattle Sounders FC (March 7). During the Group Stage of the MLS is Back Tournament, Room started and earned consecutive wins and shutouts against FC Cincinnati* (July 11) and the New York Red Bulls* (July 16). He made a total of two appearances (two starts) during the MLS is Back Tournament. Room returned from injury and started consecutive matches on the road against FC Cincinnati (August 29), at home against Philadelphia Union (September 2) and at home against FC Cincinnati (September 6) where he notably earned three shutouts. The goalkeeper started on the road at Chicago Fire FC (September 12) before earning a win and shutout at home against Nashville SC (September 19) and his seventh win of the season against Minnesota United FC (September 23) at home. Room started on the road at Toronto FC (September 27) and on the road at FC Dallas (October 3) before missing three consecutive matches due to injury. He then returned, making four consecutive starts from October 24 through November 4, notably making an MLS career-high eight saves at home against the Philadelphia Union (November 1). 2019 (Columbus): Eloy Room made 12 regular-season appearances (all starts) for Crew SC in 2019, posting one shutout. He made his 2019 regular-season debut in a home match against the Montreal Impact (July 20), making one save en-route to registering his first career MLS win.  Room was named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week following his performance against the San Jose Earthquakes (August 3). He posted his first shutout in a 2-0 home victory over the Philadlephia Union (September 29). Room made 12 consecutive starts for the Black & Gold since his first career start, registering 33 saves, five wins and six draws. He did not make an appearance in the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.                                                                   

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

At the international level, Room has earned 34 caps with the Curacao National Team, posting 11 shutouts. The goalkeeper made his debut with Curacao in 2015, starting and recording a shutout in a Concacaf World Cup Qualifier against Cuba on June 6. In 2017, Room helped Curacao to its first Caribbean Cup title, earning the Caribbean Cup Golden Glove award in the process. Room started for Curacao in all four matches at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, making a total of 26 saves – the most by any goalkeeper in the tournament through the quarterfinals. Room posted a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Haiti (September 7) before helping the team earn a point in a 1-1 draw, also against Haiti (September 10). The goalkeeper started for Curacao in a Concacaf Nations League group stage match against Costa Rica  (October 14), securing a clean sheet. A month later, started again against Costa Rica in another Concacaf Nations League group stage match (November 15). At the youth level, Room featured for the Netherlands Under-20 side.
