HOW ACQUIRED: Signed on a one-year loan with an option to buy from Red Bull Salzburg on Jan. 24, 2019.
Coronel is a young goalkeeper who possesses impressive athleticism for his size and has terrific potential. He will likely backup Andre Blake in 2019.
INTERNATIONAL: Coronel has made appearances for the Brazilian Under-15 and Under-17 national teams.
OUTSIDE MLS: Coronel first went to Austria under Tanner in 2015, when he signed for FC Liefering, a second-division club affiliated with RB Salzburg. Over three campaigns with Liefering, he made 67 appearances, keeping 20 clean sheets, including nine in 2016-17 and 10 in 2017-18. He served as the club’s captain throughout those two seasons. He has also been promoted to the first team, making his Austrian Bundesliga debut in Salzburg’s final match of 2018, which capped off a title-winning season.
