Wizards appoint new PR manager

KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson announced the appointment of Jeff Bowers to the position of the club's Public Relations Manager. Bowers comes to the Wizards from the University of California, Santa Barbara Athletics Department and replaces previous P.R. Manager Justin Gorman.


Bowers has assumed the Public Relations Manager duties as of Monday, February 27th, taking over for Gorman who left Kansas City to become the Marketing Coordinator for the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.


"We are thrilled to add Jeff to our staff," said Johnson. "He brings a background in public relations and soccer at the Division I level. He has hit the ground running and will be a fantastic asset for soccer and the Wizards Organization."


Prior to his arrival in Kansas City, Bowers served as the Assistant Director of Media Relations and Publications Coordinator at UC Santa Barbara. While at UCSB, Bowers handled all of the sports information duties for the Gauchos' nationally ranked men's soccer program, as well as multiple other sports. Santa Barbara currently has seven players playing professional soccer who were members of the teams that Bowers' represented.


A native of Southern California, Bowers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from UC Santa Barbara with a minor in sports management in December 2000.
