Weekly update: Revs visit Dynamo

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Dynamo increased its impressive unbeaten streak to 9 games, defeating the Kansas City Wizards 3-2 at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, July 15.

The victory served as payback to the Wizards, who defeated the Dynamo earlier this season in Houston. The game also noted the Dynamo's second straight game scoring three goals or more, and makes the team 4-0 when doing so.

The Dynamo struck first at the 21st minute, as Eddie Robinson recorded his second goal of the season off Brad Davis' 6th assist of the year. The celebration was cut short, however, when theWizards' Josh Wolff scored just two minutes later to level the game.

Houston started the second half refocused, with Brian Ching and Brad Davis scoring only ten minutes apart. In the 56 minute, Davis sent a screaming free kick past the Wizards' goalie, Bo Oshoniyi, while Ching scored his 10th of the season in the 66th minute. The Dynamo was able to hold on to the win despite a late goal by Jimmy Conrad in the 87th minute.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Houston Dynamo will take on current Eastern Conference Champion New England Revolution, this Saturday at Robertson Stadium. In the teams' previous meeting, the club drew a 1-1 tie at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. The Revolution boasts 2 players recently named to the 2006 MLS First XI, while the Dynamo will send 2 All-Stars, including Dwayne De Rosario. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 PM (CT).

WELL DE'SERVED

Congratulations to Dwayne De Rosario and Brian Ching on being selected to this year's MLS All-Star game. Both players have been a large part of the Dynamo's success this inaugural season, and are considered by many to be two of the most exciting play makers in the league. This will be Ching's second selection, while Dwayne De Rosario will attend his first All-Star game as he was named to MLS' First XI as the league's overall top vote getter. You can watch both players in action, as the MLS takes on English Premier League champions Chelsea FC on Aug. 5 (5:30 p.m. CT, ESPN) at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.

THREE IN A ROW

Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching is proving why he was selected to this year's All-Star game. Since his return to the Dynamo from World Cup duty, Ching has scored a goal in each of his last three games. He has also helped the team achieve a 2-0-3 record. Currently, Brian has 10 goals and 2 assists in just 11 games played this season.

LOCAL TIES

The New England Revolution must like Texas. On their roster, the Revolution feature four players from the Lone Star state, including National Team member Clint Dempsey, who is from Nacogdoches. Dempsey may be best known for scoring the U.S. goal against Ghana in the World Cup. The other three players include Kyle Brown from Southlake, Daniel Hernandez from Tyler, and Ryan Latham from Dallas.
