Weekly update: Midweek matchup

Brian Mullan

HOUSTON, TX - Houston Dynamo remains unbeaten in its last five games, after obtaining a scoreless tie against defending MLS Champion Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday at The Home Depot Center.

The game was intense and physical all throughout. In his first MLS game since May 6, Dynamo forward Brian Ching had at least three clear chances during the first half, the best of which came at the 23rd minute, on a great cross by Ricardo Clark from the left side.

Scoring opportunities diminished considerably once the second half got under way. Coaches for both teams made substitutions during the final minutes, trying to find answers on offense. With this result, Houston (6-3-4) remains in second place in the Western Conference, with 22 points, 5 behind conference leader FC Dallas. Meanwhile, the Galaxy (2-10-3) remain winless under new head coach Frank Yallop.
