HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo heads into its second and final week in Los Angeles with a new name and an eye on preparing for the team's season opener on April 2 against the Colorado Rapids.
Houston Dynamo played a scrimmage yesterday Monday, March 6, against the UCLA Men's Team, beating its rival 3-0, and will play Chivas USA for the second time in less than a week on Wednesday, March 8, before returning to Houston on Friday, March 10. After a week in Houston, the team will spend March 17-26 in Charleston, South Carolina, where they face the Charleston Battery, D.C. United, and the MetroStars in exhibition games.

Last week while training in Los Angeles, Houston Dynamo played three pre-season games against other MLS clubs. Houston Dynamo started off the week with a match against the Galaxy on Monday, March 1, in which each team's starters played to a 1-1 tie in the first half before the Galaxy took the lead for a 2-1 win. On Thursday, March 2, Houston Dynamo bested Chivas USA by a score of 2-1 in a match that saw Houston fall behind 0-1 early in the first half and then come from behind thanks to scores by Brian Ching and Brad Davis. Finally, on Saturday, March 4, Houston Dynamo beat the MetroStars 1-0 thanks to a low shot from just outside the 6-yard box by Julian Nash.

NEW NAME, NEW LOOK
Houston Dynamo president Oliver Luck announced the team's new name and logo at a press conference yesterday, Monday, March 6, held at The Houston Museum of Natural Science's Wiess Energy Hall. The name Houston Dynamo draws on Houston's importance in the energy industry and is partially a salute to the Houston Dynamos, a professional soccer team that played in the USL in 1984 and made it to that league's championship game. Though the name and logo design have changed, the team colors of Raven Black, Wildcatter Orange, and Space City Blue remain the same.
DE ROSARIO RETURNS TO HOUSTON DYNAMO
Houston Dynamo's Dwayne De Rosario returned to Los Angeles and joined his teammates in training camp on Monday. De Rosario had been in Austria with the Canadian Men's National Team for an international friendly match against the Austrian Men's National Team last Wednesday. De Rosario had two shots on goal in the first half, and helped Canada to a 2-0 win.
