CHICAGO TRAVEL TO COLORADO FOR SUNDAY MATCH UP
The Chicago Fire (11-7-5, 38 pts.) play at Colorado Sunday, Sept. 14 (2:00 p.m. CT, My50 Chicago, TeleFutura, WRTO 1200 AM Spanish, WNVR 1030 AM Polish). Chicago posted a 1-0 victory over New York to move into a second place tie in the Eastern Conference with New England and five points behind conference-leading Columbus. Chicago is the best road team in MLS with a 6-3-3 record (New England is 6-4-2) and have gone 2-1-2 in its last five road games with the lone loss coming in its last away match at Houston (2-1) on Aug. 31. The Fire defeated the Rapids 2-1 on April 26 at TOYOTA PARK as John Thorrington scored both goals for Chicago. The Rapids' Tom McManus scored a late goal to make the game close. Goalkeeper Jon Busch made eight saves in the match, tied for second most saves in a single game this season. The Fire lead the all-time regular season series 14-10-5, but have a 2-7-4 record in games played in Colorado.

U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM FACES IRELAND - SEPTEMBER 20
The U.S. Women's National Team takes on Ireland in a three-match tour, hitting stops on the East Coast and Midwest after their return from the 2008 Olympic Games in China. The Fall Tour comes to TOYOTA PARK on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. The U.S. Women defeated Brazil to win the Gold Medal.
DICK'S SPORTING GOODS TEAMS UP WITH THE FIRE AND MLS FOR UNDERPRIVILEDGED CHILDREN'S SHOPPING EVENT
Dick's Sporting Goods and Major League Soccer teams, including the Chicago Fire, are teaming up to help disadvantaged youth this Back to School season. A special shopping event, co-sponsored by MLS, will take place in the Chicagoland area on Sept. 9 at the Dick's Sporting Goods store in Lombard. Five Fire players will give approximately 30 underprivileged kids a special "personal shopper" experience. All of the participating children will be given a complimentary Dick's Sporting Goods gift card and then accompanied through the store by the players who will help them pick out merchandise to purchase with that gift card.
THREE FIRE PLAYERS PLAY FOR NATIONAL TEAMS ONE MORE TIME
Cuauhtémoc Blanco (Mexico), Marco Pappa (Guatemala), and Gonzalo Segares (Costa Rica) have one more game this week for their countries before returning to the Fire and MLS action. Blanco played 20 minutes in Mexico's 3-0 win over Jamaica on Sept. 6 at Azteca Stadium and will face Canada on Sept. 10. Pappa earned his second 'cap' playing 21 minutes for Guatemala in their 1-1 tie with Trinidad and Tobago at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain. Pappa and Guatemala will face Cuba on Sept. 10 at home in Guatemala City. Segares played 90 minutes for Costa Rica in the 7-0 win over Suriname at home at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa, and travels to Port-Au-Prince to play Haiti on Sept. 10.
LOCAL CHICAGOLAND WENDY'S TO HOST CUSTOMER APPRECIATION NIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 17
Wendy's stores in the Chicago area are hosting Customer Appreciation Night to benefit the FireWorks for Kids Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Over 140 participating Wendy's stores across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana will donate a portion of their dinner sales from the evening to the FireWorks for Kids Foundation.
