Major League Soccer announced Wednesday the complete regular season schedule for 2010. This is the 15th season of MLS and will see each of the clubs play 30 regular season games, for a total of 240 matches.
In their 4th MLS season, Toronto FC will play each team home and away. As previously announced, the team will open the 2010 season on Saturday, March 27 in Columbus to face the Crew in a 4 p.m. ET start time. The following weekend the team gets an early bye-week, followed by a trip to New England to take on the Revolution in a 7:30 p.m. ET kick off. Toronto opens the season at home on their new grass pitch on Thursday, April 15 hosting the expansion Philadelphia Union in a game that will be nationally broadcast on ESPN2 in a 7 p.m. ET start.
The team will play back to back Sunday matches for the first time this season with games April 18 in Colorado and April 25 at home to host the Seattle Sounders. Toronto will play their last game before the FIFA 2010 World Cup break on Saturday, June 5 at BMO Field against Kansas City. The team will not play another MLS match until Saturday, June 26 when they host the L.A. Galaxy.
Other notable matchups include a Canada Day meeting once again with the Houston Dynamo on Thursday, July 1 in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN2 in a 7:00 p.m. ET start. Toronto will play a home and home series with the New York Red Bulls in the brand new Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, August 11 in Harrison, NJ, with the return match taking place on Saturday, August 21 at BMO Field. The defending MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake will visit the following week on Saturday, August 28. Toronto will wrap up the MLS regular season on Saturday, October 23 at D.C. United.
Once again, eight teams will qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs, which begin the weekend of October 28-30. The final will be played Sunday, November 21 at a venue to be announced later.
Toronto FC's Nutrilite Canadian Championship schedule will be announced by the Canadian Soccer Association Thursday, while a full broadcast schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
