Toronto FC defender Tyler Hemming, and forward Andrea Lombardo have been named to the 22 man roster for Canada that will compete in the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualification tournament in California.
The roster, chosen by Head Coach Nick Dasovic was selected after an 11 day training camp was held in California.</p>
Lombardo was a member of the Canada's U-20 team that participated in this past FIFA U-20 World Cup that was held in Toronto in July of last year. Both players participated in Canada's friendlies last week against UC Santa Barbara, and Westmount College. On both occasions Canada was victorious with Lombardo scoring once in the match against Westmount.</p>
Canada will compete in Group B, alongside Mexico (March 12), Haiti (March 14), and Guatemala (March 16). All those matches will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The top two teams from Group A and B will move on to the semifinals in Nashville, Tenn., where the winners will earn berths to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The United States play in Group A and feature Toronto FC midfielder Maurice Edu who was named Captain by Head Coach Peter Nowak and defender Marvell Wynne.</p>
The semifinals are slated to take place March 20, with the Third-Place match and the final set for March 23. </p>
