The soccer rabona reappears on the football gridiron in the Alamo Bowl | SIDELINE

Matthew McCrane, Kansas State kicker

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Like the "rabona" in American football.

On Friday, the soccer trick move -- executed to perfection on the soccer field by Tottenham's Erik Lamela in 2014 (WATCH IT HERE) -- reappeared on the gridiron when Kansas State kicker Matthew McCrane made a desperate attempt to win an onside kick in the late stages of the Alamo Bowl (see GIFs and Vine below).

It didn't work.

A little over a month ago it was Miami Dolphins placekicker Caleb Sturgis, the brother of MLS player Nathan Sturgis, who tried it in the NFL but that didn't pan out either (WATCH IT HERE).

The last American football player to try the rabona successfully (to our knowledge)? Rice University kicker Chris Boswell. Check out that story here.
