The saddest fan ever, Timbers Cry Guy, can be best friends forever with Joey Barton | SIDELINE

Timbers Cry Guy

As the Portland Timbers' season wound down in the final minutes on Sunday night, the American soccer community was treated to its latest, greatest gift from ESPN's crack production staff: Timbers Cry Guy.

Have you ever cried at a sporting event?

Now, we're not here to berate Timbers Cry Guy and rip on him. After all, all he did was exemplify everything it means to be a committed, passionate supporter of your favorite sports team. If we look ourselves in the mirror, we've probably all done it at some point in our lives.

Instead, we'd like to point your attention to the above video of Timbers Cry Guy set to "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., because, really, it's just perfect.

In fact, upon re-watching this video, I'm far more concerned with Chicago Bears Hoodie and Beanie Guy standing next to Timbers Cry Guy. What's this guy really thinking at a Timbers playoff game?

Don't worry, Timbers Cry Guy — your sadness is in the best of company. Joey Barton is just as distraught as you are that the Timbers' season is over:

Barton is being serious, by the way. He's been tweeting about the Timbers — thus making him an ardent supporter — for about four weeks now.

This blog post wasn't meant to make you feel worse, and that's probably all that comparing your grief to Joey Barton's Twitter jibber-jabber has done. I'm sorry, Timbers Cry Guy, as you were.
