Claudio Reyna, former U.S. National Team captain and one of the most accomplished soccer professionals in the United States, will make his ESPN studio debut as a guest analyst on ESPN Soccernet Pregame Show on ESPN2 Thursday, August 21, at 10 p.m. ET. The pregame show, hosted by Rob Stone, will lead into that night's ESPN2 MLS Primetime Thursday telecast featuring Los Angeles Galaxy hosting the Chicago Fire. Commentary for the match will be provided by Adrian Healey, Shep Messing and sideline reporter Allen Hopkins.
The ESPN Soccernet Pregame Show will lead into ESPN2's coverage of Bruce Arena's first match on the Galaxy sidelines. Arena was Reyna's college, national and, for one year, club team coach. Reyna retired from professional soccer on July 16, 2008, as a New York Red Bull - ending a 13-year career that began in the German Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 1994, and included stops with Rangers FC in the Scottish Premier League, and Sunderland and Manchester City in the English Premier League.
Reyna's guest appearance on ESPN Soccernet Pregame Show would be one day after the U.S. Men's National Team, which he captained in two FIFA World Cups (2002 and 2006), faces Guatemala in a 2010 World Cup qualifying match. The program will review the U.S. team's performance and preview Arena's debut as Galaxy coach.
