Reserves: Revs 1, Dynamo 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Guest player Anders Kelto scored the game's only goal in the 86th minute as the New England Revolution Reserves earned a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo Reserves on Sunday evening at Gillette Stadium.

Kelto chested down Bryan Byrne's corner-kick service and hit a 10-yard volleyed shot past Houston keeper Zach Wells for the game-winning strike just four minutes from full time. With the win, New England's reserve side improved to 5-2-0, while Houston evened its record at 2-2-1 with the loss.

Wells made six saves in the game, while Revs' keeper Brad Knighton also made six saves in his first reserve-division shutout in three starts.

The teams finished the first half tied, 0-0, after the Revs had the better of play in the opening stanza. In the second half, both teams had prime chances to score the go-ahead goal before the Revs finally converted late in the game.

Houston was denied in the 62nd minute by Revs defender Amaechi Igwe - making his first appearance since returning from the FIFA Under-20 World Cup where he was a member of the U.S. squad - when he cleared Chris Wondolowski's shot off the line in an acrobatic fashion. In the 70th minute, New England's Ryan Solle beat out a bad pass back to Wells outside the edge of the penalty area, but his first touch was too hard and he was unable to put a shot on the open goal before the ball ran out of bounds.

The Revs' reserves next see action when they travel to Utah to face the RSL Reserves on Sunday, July 29, at 10 a.m. MT. Houston's reserves are also next scheduled to play Real Salt Lake one week later, on Sunday, Aug. 5, in Park City, Utah.
