FRIEND SCORES FIRST GOAL FOR GALAXY:
The LA Galaxy faced off against fellow LA side Chivas USA in a closed-door scrimmage Wednesday morning,
with the teams drawing 2-2
. Canadian international and new signing Rob Friend notched his first goal for the Galaxy to open the scoring, while Juninho put the "hosts" up 2-0 in the first half. Chivas followed that up by scoring two of their own in the second half, with
goals from Jacob Barron and Matthew Fondy
.
HE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE:
Word from Philadelphia Union midfielder Mike Lahoud is that head coach John Hackworth suffered the same fate at the hands of one of his charges:

GETTING IT DONE
: Portland and Houston played a mostly sleepy game in the Tucson nightcap, but the Timbers attack woke up late enough to snatch a 2-0 victory. Good news for Timbers fans, by the way, as a pair of presumed starters -- Will Johnson and Max Urruti -- got on the board in the win.
THE THIRD MAN
: Gilberto, Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley... but what about Bright Dike? The big Oklahoma-born Nigerian is fighting for a starting spot with his club and a World Cup spot with his country, and he ended up stealing the spotlight in Bradley's debut. Dike scored the only goal -- a late one -- in the Reds' 1-0 win over D.C.
