Report: Loons to add Swiss fullback
According to Goal's Ives Galarcep, Minnesota United have completed a deal to acquire Swiss Super League right back Jerome Thiesson. The 29-year-old came up through the youth ranks at FC Zurich, and spent the past 5 1/2 seasons at Luzern, making more than 150 appearances across all competitions. READ MORE

On a related note, ESPN's Jeff Carlisle writes about how MLS clubs have shifted the balance of how the spend on players. Whereas teams formerly reserved their main expenditures for attackers, they are now spending more to build their back lines. This offseason, Columbus and the LA Galaxy have inked defenders to Designated Player deals, and several others have used Targeted Allocation Money to make signings at the back. READ MORE

The agent for longtime Dynamo Kiev and Ukraine right-sider Oleg Gusev claims that his client is in talks with multiple MLS clubs (in Russian). He also noted that, though he also has suitors in Asia and Europe, a move to America is his top priority.
