Arminia Bielefeld have made their first major signing of the transfer window by bringing in Zambia captain Christopher Katongo from Brondby.
Bielefeld have been quiet all summer, with only Berat Sadik and Michael Lamey arriving at the Schuco Arena in low-key moves, but the East Westphalians have splashed the cash to make Katongo their most expensive new recruit.
The 25-year-old has moved to the Bundesliga side for a reported 2 million euros and Brondby director Anders Bjerregaard believes Bielefeld are getting value for money.
He told the Danish club's official website: "Since we signed Christopher Katongo we knew that some day he was willing to play at a higher standard. And this has become reality now with Arminia Bielefeld and the Bundesliga.
"We have said we would be ready selling him now, should the terms of the transfer reflect our valuation of him."
Bjerregaard added: "The lad has been fantastic, on and off the pitch, and we have every reason to wish him well for the future."
Katongo has signed a three-year deal with Arminia and will wear the number 10 shirt this season.
