The Western Conference-leading Los Angeles Galaxy will have to temporarily rely upon a new
offensive source after it was revealed Tuesday that league goal-scoring leader Carlos Ruiz will
miss at least the next two matches with a sprained right ankle.
An MRI Monday showed no fracture, but he could be out for 4-6 weeks. Ruiz is slated to be reevaluated next week.
The injury occured in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids. Ruiz
chased down a ball in the 24th minute and sprained his ankle after challenging defender Pablo Mastroeni at the top left corner of the penalty area.
Ruiz leads the league with six goals and 14 points in seven games.
The Galaxy face United in D.C. on Wednesday night and the Earthquakes in San Jose on
Saturday night.
