The first panel of the dynamic form roof for Red Bull Arena - Built by Makita - was installed today. The unique stadium roof design will create a distinguished identity and unique atmosphere for Red Bulls fans when the stadium opens in 2010. When completely installed, the roof will extend over the entire seating bowl and curve down to the concourse. The roof will extend 120 feet from the last seat to halfway between the field wall and the field's touchlines, with the final 60 feet of the roof being translucent, letting in natural light. Today's completed roof panel is the first of over 90 panels that will be installed at Red Bull Arena over the next three months.
In addition, Red Bull New York announced that it has installed a second web cam to RedBullArena.us, the official website of Red Bull Arena, New York's state-of-the-art, soccer-specific stadium being constructed in Harrison, New Jersey. The second web cam is located inside the seating bowl of Red Bull Arena and will allow fans a view of the interior of the arena as construction continues. The initial web cam went online on September 3, 2008, and has provided fans of the club a continuous view of the arena construction.
"Today is another significant milestone in the construction of Red Bull Arena," said Red Bull New York Managing Director Erik Stover. "We have had many fan requests for another webcam to show the interior progress of Red Bull Arena and we're happy to be able to accomplish this and keep our fans up-to-date on the progress of the stadium."
Additional Construction Notes: Since the Topping Off Ceremony on April 14, 2009, Red Bull Arena has also seen the installation of the decking for the upper bowl stadia on the East Side. The North Side decking is next in line for installation. In addition, concrete masonry work continues in and around the West Building as well as the "roughing out" and "framing in" throughout the West Building.
