The Chicago Fire acquired conditional 2009 and 2011 MLS SuperDraft picks Friday in exchange for the rights to 21-year old forward Will Johnson.
Chicago receives a pair of conditional natural draft picks from Real Salt Lake in 2009 4th-round and 2011 2nd-round for Will Johnson's rights. Johnson made his professional debut with the Chicago Fire during the 2005 campaign; he played in six matches and scored his lone career goal against the Colorado Rapids in his first MLS start. After spending one season with the Fire, Johnson made the move to SC Heerenveen of the Dutch Eredivisie, where he spent the past two seasons, one of those on loan with another top division Dutch club, De Graafschap. During his two seasons in Holland Johnson tallied three goals in 39 appearances.
