Fernando Lopez to miss Chile friendly

Lopez

Mexico defender Fernando Lopez will miss the international friendly against Chile on Wednesday due to problems with his visa.

The Necaxa man was one of the 20 home-based players called up by Sven-Goran Eriksson to face Marcelo Bielsa's side at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

The Mexican Football Federation revealed on their website, www.femexfut.org.mx: "The player joined the national team on Sunday, September 21, without his visa.

"We tried to get the documents but it was not possible as the player could not get an appointment (at the local consulate to get a visa to travel from Mexico to the USA) until Thursday 25th.

"That caused his withdrawal from the national senior team."

El Tri are using this friendly as a warm-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica and Canada in October.

Mexico have collected three wins from as many rounds in the semi-final group round.
