The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), together with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) and the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, announced today that the next stop on the Mexican National Team's 2009 U.S. Tour will take place on Wednesday, March 11 against the Bolivian National Team at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Co. at 7:00 p.m., MT. The match will be Mexico's final tune up before its CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying match on March 28 against Costa Rica in Mexico City.
Visa is pleased to offer all cardholders access to an exclusive pre-sale for the March 11 match. With tickets starting as low as $25, the Visa week-long pre-sale will begin today, Thursday, February 5, 2009 starting at 10:00 a.m., MT, through www.TicketHorse.com. Tickets ranging in price levels from $25 to $75 go on sale to the general public on Thursday, February 12 by phone at 303-825-GOAL or through www.TicketHorse.com. Tickets will also be available at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park Box Office starting Friday, February 27 from Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. local time and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. local. The Rapids are also offering a special "ComBoleto Pack", which features a ticket to the Mexican National Team match against Bolivia along with a ticket to the Rapids' home opener on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. MT against the Kansas City Wizards at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Prices for the Rapids "ComBoleto Pack" are either $60 or $45 depending on seat location and can be purchased by calling 303-825-GOAL or through www.TicketHorse.com.
The match against Bolivia will mark the second of the Mexican National Team's five games on U.S. soil in the sixth edition of the annual tour. The first game in 2009 was played on January 28 against Mexico head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's native country Sweden. More than 46,000 fans packed the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum as Mexico fell 1-0 in its final preparatory match before the much awaited World Cup Qualifying match against the U.S. National Team on February 11 in Columbus, Ohio.
Mexico vs. Bolivia - March 11
Mexico and Bolivia have met on eight occasions all-time, with six wins and one tie for the North American country. The last match between the two was played on March 19, 2003 in Dallas, Texas, ending in a 2-0 Mexico win. The upcoming March 11 match will mark Mexico's return to Colorado where it has played twice, most recently in a 1-0 loss to Colombia on August 22, 2007.
Bolivia, coached by former national team star Erwin "Platini" Sánchez, is currently in the midst of CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying. Bolivia returns to World Cup Qualifying on March 29 when it travels to take on Colombia in the 11th round of CONMEBOL Qualifying.
The Mexican National team's U.S. tour not only allows its U.S.-based fans to witness team's matches first hand, but also allows the team to play top class opponents while strengthening its player pool in preparation for major international tournaments.
Returning for the Mexican National Team's 2009 U.S. Tour are the following sponsors: adidas, Allstate, Bud Light, Chase, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Jose Cuervo, Makita, McDonald's, NAPA, The Home Depot and Visa. The tour sponsors will again make the national team's matches an all-day event, with its participation in Futbol Fiesta, an interactive zone that spans more than 100,000 square feet at every game and includes live music, games, celebrities and thousands of promotional items. On March 11, Futbol Fiesta will take place in the VIP South Parking Lot from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
