Crew 2, Toronto FC 0 -- quote sheet

COLUMBUS CREW 2, TORONTO FC 0

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the first goal:

"I thought the first goal was a well-played goal, a well-created goal -- Alejandro [Moreno] faking the first run and Guillermo [Barros Schelotto] following in behind. So, we got opened up on that. I'm sure Mo [Johnston] probably feels their goalkeeper could have done better on that free kick."

On two-goal scorer Schelotto:

"I thought Guillermo [Barros Schelotto] obviously has been very instrumental since he has been with us. I think when you look at all the foreign signings in the league, he's definitely, in my mind, in the top two."

On the win:

"This win puts us above .500, which is someplace that we wanted to be. Like we talked about, it created separation, which is something that we wanted, too. Last year, we faltered in the summer months and right now we are picking it up in the summer months and putting ourselves in the hunt."

COLUMBUS CREW MIDFIELDER DANNY SZETELA

On getting his first start of the season:
"It feels good. I'm finally healthy. I've gone to the [Under-20] World Cup and played there, getting my confidence up and forgetting about all my injuries and everything here. It was great to just get out there and help the team get three points."

COLUMBUS CREW GOALKEEPER WILL HESMER

On the team's blossoming chemistry:
"Obviously, the team is riding high right now and the chemistry is really there. Guys are starting to figure out each other, especially up top with Guillermo, Alejandro, Eddie, Robbie; everybody's starting to get on the same page. I think defensively we've been doing the same thing the whole time and getting it done. We're doing well."

COLUMBUS CREW MIDFIELDER GUILLERMO BARROS SCHELOTTO

On scoring both goals in the match:
"Obviously, I'm glad, but I want to thank my team because they give me the chance to get some scoring opportunities and defensively, they were doing great, so it was a big help."

On how his comfort level has changed since his first few games:
"I was comfortable from the first minute. Obviously, as time goes by I feel even more comfortable, not only with the team, but also with the language and teammates and things like that."

On stars like Beckham coming to play in MLS:
"I'm happy. The stars will hopefully help the league's growth, but hopefully also help soccer-wise, not only with the marketing aspect of it, but also with the essence of the game."

TORONTO FC HEAD COACH MO JOHNSTON

On heading back to Toronto after a long road stretch:
"We've been on a six-game stretch away from home and now we go back to Toronto which is a difficult place for anybody to play."

On his team's struggles in the match
"We've been on the road for a while, and we never performed today, especially when you've got [Greg] Sutton, [Danny] Dichio, [Jeff] Cunningham and Maurice Edu all missing and you come up against a team that's playing extremely well."

TORONTO FC MIDFIELDER JIM BRENNAN

On the loss and team's long road trip:
"We're disappointed. We felt we could have come here and got something. After the first half it was tight -- nil-nil -- they didn't have many chances. In the second half, they had two chances and finished them. Obviously, we are disappointed with the result today, because it was a long road trip and we've done well on the road trip and we wanted to get something today, but it just didn't go our way."

TORONTO FC FORWARD DANNY DICHIO

On the game:

"Frankly, with our performance I'm a bit disappointed. It was not our best match as a team, and we know we can play a lot better. We just can't have the mistakes that we made today."

On coming back from two goals down:

"We gave away a goal that we thought was a foul in the box but the referee did not call it and then the second goal kind of killed us. When a second goal goes in you have to play as a team. We're still in the game at two-nil. If we get a goal back than maybe we can push on and get an equalizer, but that was one of our mistakes. We let our heads drop today, and you shouldn't do that."
