CHIVAS USA TO HOLD FINAL 2008 YOUTH TEAM AND OPEN TRYOUTS:


On Friday, Dec. 12, Chivas USA will host its final Youth Team Tryouts, as well as a round of Open Tryouts, at the Rancho Santa Susana Fields in Simi Valley. The Youth Team Tryouts are for the Chivas USA U-16 and U-18 Teams that participate in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, and are open to players born between 1991-1995. The Open Tryouts will be open to players aged 18 and over. Both events start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, on Fields 2 & 3 at the Rancho Santa Susana Park, 5005 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley. JORGE FLORES SCORES IN U.S. U-20 NATIONAL TEAM'S FIRST MATCH IN SPAIN:


Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores scored for the United States Under-20 National Team against the Real Madrid Reserves in a 5-3 loss on Wednesday. The U-20's also tied the Atletico Madrid Reserves 0-0 on Thursday, with Flores playing 90 minutes in the midfield for the second consecutive game. Flores is with the team as part of a week-long international training camp, running from Nov. 15-23, and the U.S. will play one final friendly match, against Rayo Vallecano on Nov. 22. Flores played in 11 regular-season MLS matches for Chivas USA this year, starting six and scoring three goals. So far in 2008, the Anaheim, Calif. native has been with the U.S. U-20's for tournaments including the Copa Chivas (Mexico), the Campos Verdes International Tournament (Portugal), and the Milk Cup (Northern Ireland). In May, Flores was with the team for a pair of games in England against English Premier League reserve teams, where he had a goal and an assist. Flores has played in more games (10) with the U.S. U-20's this year than any other player.

YOUTH TEAMS LOOK AHEAD TO U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY SHOWCASE IN LANCASTER, CALIF.:


The Chivas USA U-16 and U-18 Teams will play their next matches in the upcoming second annual Development Academy Winter Showcase from Dec. 5-8 at the Lancaster National Soccer Center in Lancaster, Calif. All 148 teams representing 74 clubs, plus the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team, will participate in 240 games over the extended weekend. At the showcase, the Red-and-White will play three games, including two against other MLS youth sides. On Friday, Dec. 5, both teams will square off against the Chicago Fire, followed by Seacoast United on Sunday, Dec. 7 and the Colorado Rapids on Monday, Dec. 8. A new component of this year's Academy Winter Showcase will be the Nike International Friendlies, featuring Under-17 Men's National Teams from the U.S., Australia and Brazil. The games will be played on a reserved field at the Lancaster National Soccer Center.

CHIVAS USA U-16'S EARN WIN AND TIE AGAINST FOES FROM THE NORTH:


The Chivas USA Youth Teams traveled to Northern California this past weekend for a pair of matches against West Conference foes. The Chivas USA U-16's went undefeated, defeating Mustang SC of Danville on Saturday by a 2-1 score, before tying the Santa Cruz County Breakers 1-1 on Sunday. Bryan de la Fuente and Jaime Frias scored against Mustang, and Alberto Velazquez scored the equalizer against Santa Cruz. The U-16's sit in third place in their division with a 4-4-3 record (W-L-T), and the team will next play in the Development Academy Showcase in Lancaster, Calif., from Dec. 5-8.

U-18 TEAM WITH A WIN AND A LOSS IN TWO MATCHES IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA:


The Chivas USA U-18 Team came back from Northern California with a win and a loss in two matches played there last weekend, and hold on to first place in the SoCal Division of the Development Academy's Western Conference with a record of 8-3-0 (W-L-T). The team first played Mustang SC on Saturday, earning a 3-0 win, with two goals from Polo Morales and one from Carlo Chueca. On Sunday, the team fell 3-2 to the Santa Cruz City Breakers, almost coming back to tie the game after going down 3-0 in the second half. Morales had one of the team's goals, while Hector Molina scored the other. The team is now off until the Development Academy Winter Showcase, held from Dec. 5-8 in Lancaster, Calif.

'KICK-IT' THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22 AT BOYLE HEIGHTS SPORTS CENTER:


'Kick-it at the Park L.A. with Chivas USA' continues this Saturday, Nov. 22, with a clinic at the Boyle Heights Sports Center, located at 933 S. Mott Street, Los Angeles, 90023. A series of four, 90-minute clinics kicks off at 9:00 a.m., followed by clinics at 10:45 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Run in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, 'Kick-it' is a series of clinics that emphasize physical fitness, sports, and education for as many as 400 children at each of 40 locations throughout the year. A five-dollar fee gets participants 90 minutes of instruction, a voucher for a future Chivas USA game, a t-shirt, soccer ball, and Certificate of Completion. Most recently, Chivas USA held a clinic at the Westwood Recreation Center at 1350 Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, 90025 on Nov. 15. ABOUT THE U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY:


The U.S Soccer Development Academy is a nationwide youth development initiative, organized by the U.S. Soccer Federation, featuring 74 of the top youth teams in the country competing in a league system at both the U-18 and U-16 levels. The season will run from September of 2008 until June of 2009. The 74 youth programs, including one U.S. Youth National Team in each age group, are divided into eight regions, each of which will send a single qualifier to the national finals to be held at The Home Depot Center after the regular season concludes in late June.
