Chivas USA has acquired versatile Mexican-American forward Jesús Padilla, a 22-year-old product of Chivas de Guadalajara's youth system who has made 24 appearances for Chivas' first team, on loan from Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Padilla will be eligible to play for Chivas USA pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Jesús is a talented, explosive attacking player who will help our team as we work toward a spot in the playoffs," said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki. "We're excited to have him join the squad, and look forward to seeing him in action for our club."

Born March 3, 1987 in San Jose, Calif., Padilla joined the Chivas de Guadalajara youth system at 14 after being scouted during a tournament in Guadalajara. Padilla, who can play in midfield as well as at forward, made his debut with the Chivas first team on Aug. 6, 2006 during the Apertura 2006 tournament, and has made 24 regular season appearances (2 starts) with Guadalajara, scoring one goal. In all tournaments, the striker has made 34 total appearances with the club, scoring five goals.

Chivas USA returns from a three-match road swing this Saturday, Aug. 22, with a game against Toronto FC at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center. For more information on the match, or to purchase tickets, please visit cdchivasusa.com or call 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
