PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP

GOALKEEPER
Brad Guzan: The 20-year-old rookie showing great strides in preseason.

DEFENDER
Orlando Perez: Attacking-minded left back adds punch to offense.
Douglas Sequeira: Costa Rican international center back is perhaps team's best player.
Ryan Suarez: Vocal, savvy player shows great leadership qualities from his center back role.
Ezra Hendrickson: MLS veteran of the squad; can still push up and join the attack as right back.

MIDFIELD
Francisco Gomez: Former Wizads midfielder takes majority of set pieces.
Ramon Ramírez: Left-footed midfielder still has plenty to offer.
Hector Cuadros: Playmaking midfielder having trouble distributing ball around.

FORWARDS
Arturo Torres: Has shown flashes of brilliance this preseason on the right wing.
Isaac Romo: Tall target forward has yielded to Thiago Martins in the center of late.
Matt Taylor: Still adjusting to playing on the left side.

OUTLOOK
Defense needs to continue to improve and offense needs to come together. The club needs early results so as not to lose confidence.

NEWCOMER WITH THE BIGGEST IMPACT: Hector Cuadros
Most everyone falls into that category. As far as players who've never played in MLS before, Hector Cuadros holds the key. If he can develop into the type of player Chivas USA needs him to be, Cuadros will shine.
