Carver waiting on Serioux fitness

Toronton FC head coach John Carver has decided on his starting line-up.

Toronto FC coach John Carver has decided on his starting line-up for the opening game of the season at Kansas City on Saturday, but he is still waiting to see if Adrian Serioux will be fit enough to play. The defender left the final preseason game in Charleston with an injury.

"I know what my team is going to be. It is in my head," said Carver after putting his side through a workout at BMO Field Tuesday. "I have played around with things in preseason and again this morning, but now I know what my team is going to be. This time last year I didn't have a clue who would be starting, so it shows how much progress we have made."

"Adrian has only been with us for just under three weeks so he hasn't had a full preseason with us. He was behind the rest of the group because he had been doing rehab from an injury. He has been working very hard but I have got to make a decision on whether he will be right to start the game on Saturday. If he is fit he will play, but if he's not I won't take a risk with him."

Carver has had to choose whether to start Greg Sutton, Stefan Frei or Brian Edwards in goal for the season opener, and although the decision is made, he is not revealing who will play. "I know who it is, but I won't announce that until I name the team. I don't want to show my hand to Kansas so you will just have to wait and see. I have been delighted with the three goalkeepers and the competition has been very good and healthy between them," explained Carver.

The Reds leave for Kansas on Thursday ahead of Saturday's opener against the Wizards. Kick off is at 8:30 p.m. live on GolTV.
