Canadian National Team head coach Dale Mitchell announced today the list of 23 players that will take on Brazil on Saturday, May 31 at Qwest Stadium in Seattle, Washington. The team plans to arrive in Seattle on Sunday, May 25, to being preparations for the match (complete schedule to be release at a later date).
Canada's experienced roster includes 15 standouts currently playing in Europe, led by midfielder Julian de Guzman of Deportivo La Coruna in Spain's prestigious La Liga. Additionally, six Canadian players hail from Major League Soccer, including Houston Dynamo star midfielder Dwayne De Rosario.
The Canadian Soccer Association will preview the match against Brazil with a conference call tomorrow, May 23, featuring De Rosario. The call will begin promptly at noon ET (9 AM PT) and media is encouraged to call in early. The game is being played as part of Brazil's 2008 U.S. Tour, which also includes a matchup versus Venezuela in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Friday, June 6. While tickets sales for both games are moving quickly, good seats are still available and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
