Borussia Mönchengladbach is one step closer to surviving the drop again, and they’ve got Michael Bradley to thank in part for a much-needed 2-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt in Friday’s lone Bundesliga match.
Just six minutes in, the U.S. midfielder took a pass at the top of the box and slotted a neat through-ball to Raúl Bobadilla. The Argentine striker chipped it over Frankfurt keeper Oka Nikolov to the far post where Marco Reus headed it into goal for an early lead.
Bradley then rescued a near equalizer in the 40th minute after blocking Halil Altintop’s shot. Brazilian center back Dante iced the win for ‘Gladbach in the 56th by heading in Juan Arango’s free kick.
Fellow U.S. national-teamer Ricardo Clark again made the game-day roster for Frankfurt, but didn’t get off the bench. The former Houston Dynamo midfield stalwart has yet to appear in seven straight games since leaving MLS in January.
The win lifted ‘Gladbach to 11th place in the Bundesliga with 37 points. Frankfurt is stuck in eighth place with 44 points.
