Bologna return twice to tackle Torino

Bologna twice came from behind to record a thumping first Serie A win under new boss Sinisa Mihajlovic at the expense of Torino.

Toro were twice ahead, first through Simone Barone and then a deflected effort from Ignazio Abate, but the hosts battled back.

Marco Di Vaio bagged a second-half hat-trick with Sergio Volpi and Marco Bernacci also on target, the latter from the penalty spot.

The visitors' miserable afternoon was compounded 10 minutes from time by the dismissal of Francesco Pratali for a professional foul.

Torino took the lead after just seven minutes, Rolando Bianchi setting up Barone to fire home from inside the area.

Bologna almost equalized immediately but Francesco Antonioli saved Francesco Valiani's shot from 20 yards.

In an action-packed start to the game, Cesare Natali's back-pass then almost let in Massimo Marazzina but goalkeeper Matteo Sereni just got a foot to the ball to avert the danger.

Torino should have extended their lead after 13 minutes but Bianchi just failed to reach Barone's great cross.

Antonioli was then called into action again, saving with his outstretched right foot from Pratali's shot after he was left unmarked in the Bologna box.

The home side were grateful to Antonioli again after 32 minutes when he reacted quickly to prevent Salvatore Lanna from scoring an own goal as he attempted to chest the ball back to the goalkeeper.

Di Vaio was then guilty of a glaring miss in front of goal on 39 minutes, much to the despair of the home fans.

Torino thought they had doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time, Antonioli saving Natali's shot but the visiting players complaining to the referee that the ball had crossed the line.

And their frustration was intensified just after the interval when Bologna equalized through Volpi's 25-yard shot.

Just five minutes later Torino were back in front, Abate's shot taking a slight deflection from Miguel Angel Britos.

Incredibly there was a third goal in a seven-minute spell as Di Vaio scrambled the ball home from close range after a scrum inside the Torino box to make it 2-2.

Di Vaio then fired the home side in front for the first time from close range after an assist from Volpi.

And Bologna went 4-2 ahead with the fifth goal in an amazing 20-minute spell after a terrible mistake from Torino goalkeeper Sereni.

Sereni tried to dribble around Bernacci but, after losing the ball, committed a silly foul to concede a needless penalty.

Bernacci got up to score from the spot and then earned another penalty on 78 minutes when he was brought down by Pratali.

Pratali was sent off for his second bookable offense and Bernacci allowed Di Vaio to take the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick.
