Best Of MLS 2015: Ranking the top three TV calls of the year

Harry Shipp - Chicago Fire - Action

It's the unique power of the sports broadcaster. Their words can remain etched in our memory for years after the fact.

And here are the three individuals who cast their spell on the editorial staff at MLSsoccer.com to make our top three list of broadcast calls during 2015.

MLSsoccer.com TV Calls of the Year

1. "Holy Shipp!" -- Dan Kelly, Comcast SportsNet Chicago: Someone was bound to use the Harry Shipp-inspired play on words at one point or another and when Kelly unleashed it on May 30 it just felt right.

And luckily the Fire play-by-play man broke it out when he did. Shipp would only score one more goal for the remainder of the season.

2. "That was daylight robbery!" -- Adrian Healey, ESPN: As you can tell by now, the editors at MLSsoccer.com enjoy a clever turn of phrase.

The voice of ESPN's MLS coverage picked one out in September when he reacted to a stunning double save by Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Luis Robles in Portland. It won him Save of the Week honors.

Oh, and it actually happened in the daylight.

3. "PORTEEEEEEEER!" -- Frédéric Lord, TVA Sports: The great moments in sports are made even greater when they're accompanied by a memorable play-by-play call.

Mission accomplished, therefore, by MLSsoccer.com's Coup Franc podcast co-host Frédéric Lord on that Cameron Porter series-winning goal against Pachuca in the CONCACAF Champions League -- with a secondary assist from the 38,104 on hand at Olympic Stadium.

And for those who don't speak French, here's the translation, courtesy of MLSsoccer.com's own Olivier Tremblay based in Montreal:

"It's Calum Mallace... About one minute left to play... Ball up to Porter, in the area, PORTEEEEEER!"
