Behind the Badge: A cap for Carroll

Brian Carroll picked up his sixth cap in the U.S. team's win over Ecuador.

D.C. United midfielder Brian Carroll appeared as a substitute in the U.S. national team's 3-1 victory over Ecuador in a friendly on Sunday. In his sixth international appearance, Carroll replaced team captain Landon Donovan in stoppage time.

Donovan provided all the offense needed, netting his second career hat trick and boosting the U.S. to a victory over the World Cup second-rounders.

Carroll was released from the national team Monday to join D.C. United in Guadalajara as they prepare to face off against Chivas in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions' Cup semifinal. The match takes place April 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET. Prior to the match, United will face Mexican Primera team Tecos UAG on March 28.

United Soccer Club
The United Soccer Club U-10 team played its first-ever game in the Capitol Hill Soccer League this past Saturday against the Giants. The rainy weather didn't stop the team as Donnie Robinson led the Eagles with a goal and an assist. The match ended in a tough 2-2 draw, but the team looked promising. Their next match is set for March 31.

The 18-year-old Cuban-American midfielder was one of 14 players that made the list, joining fellow MLS players David Arvizu and Francisco Mendoza.
