AMSTERDAM – The transfer situation surrounding free agent SønderjyskE midfielder Conor O'Brien has intensified with new potential suitors coming to the table in recent weeks.
In late December, the 24-year-old midfielder appeared to be down to choosing between a Danish Superliga club higher up the food chain and a team from Belgium's Jupiler League. However, MLSsoccer.com has learned that some competing Bundesliga interest has now sparked in the player, who ran out of contract with the new year.

"There has been new parties involved," O'Brien rep Allan Bak Jensen confirmed to MLSsoccer.com. "We are in the process with a few clubs, but nothing has been completed. Conor is keeping up his fitness back in America."
O'Brien also had interest from a strong Eredivisie club dissipate recently. Jensen says they checked to see if he would be eligible for the Irish passport held by his parents – in order to skirt the Dutch league's minimum salary for non-European Union players – but he did not qualify.
Jensen also divulged that his client had no contact from the US national team prior to January call-ups. For the current SønderjyskE season, O'Brien rang up four goals and three assists in 20 Superliga matches while working from a deep-lying playmaker position. He scored in what will stand as his final game for the club, a 2-2 draw with Brøndby last month.
