Academy Seniors beat Brampton 1-0

Brennan McNicoll scored the only goal of the game as TFC Senior Academy beat Canadian Soccer League team Brampton Lions. The game was a closely contested match and stayed scoreless until the 72nd minute. McNicoll picked up a ball just outside the box and unleashed a dipping volley to give TFC Academy a 1-0 lead. Reds goalkeeper Soitiri Varlokostas had to make an acrobatic save in the closing stages to ensure TFC closed out the game with a victory.

"The game was a different test to our previous matches," said Senior Team head coach Jason Bent. "It was more of a technical match as opposed to a physical encounter. I think we gave them too much space in the first half and our passing was sloppy. We improved in the second half and got a good goal from Brennan McNicoll. To be fair, lately we have been very difficult to break down and have been keeping a number of clean sheets. I feel as long as we can keep it tight, we're always capable of scoring goals with the attacking players we have. Although it is still only preseason and these particular matches do not count for anything, it does help our confidence and fitness levels."
