The 2015 edition of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup will begin in earnest on Wednesday night, when 42 lower division and amateur sides will begin play in the first round of the tournament.
The 17 US-based Major League Soccer clubs won’t enter the tournament until the fourth-round in June, but it’s always worth keeping an eye on the early contests to get an advance look at a potential Cinderella. That’s especially true this year, with the winner of Wednesday’s contests set to face an American USL club – five of which are owned and operated by an MLS team – in the second round on May 20.
